Check this post to find out about professional development opportunities!...
Welcome to the WEA Fourth Corner, representing approximately 4,800 teachers, faculty and support staff in public schools and technical colleges located in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, San Juan and Northern Snohomish Counties. We are affiliated with the National Education Association and the Washington Education Association.
In most of the country, employees are considered under “at-will” employment. In an at-will setting, that means you can be disciplined (including termination) for any reason–good cause, bad cause, no cause–even “just because;” as a member of WEA FC and your local unit, there must be “just cause”–that is, you cannot be disciplined for no reason and without a fair investigation.
As a member of WEA FC and your local unit, you are covered by an employment contract which details the terms and conditions of your work and day-to-day, in a number of arenas. A major part of this is your salary and earnings. WEA FC works with your local bargaining team to help you build and maintain the best contract possible, in salary, benefits, and every other area.
Generally, our members report that district-provided trainings and professional development fall a bit short for a variety of reasons. The good news is that as a member of WEA FC and your local unit, you are entitled to a wide range of professional development opportunities for clock hours, usually instructed by your peers and in a no-pressure setting that is designed to make learning and growth easy, understandable, and enjoyable.
DIFFERENT LOCAL UNITS
